MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 Competition: The Quest for Best Manuscripts

MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 Competition is a competition that aims to encourage and celebrate the creative juices of Malaysian writers.

The objectives of the competition are as follows:

•          To promote local literature industry and to encourage more writers to produce creative contents.

•          To reward excellent Malaysian literature and its writers.

The closing date for MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 Competition is on 31st May 2017.  The organiser shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, in any way for any lost or damaged manuscripts during transit. The results for the competition will be announced in July 2017.

 

How to Enter

Your entry must include the following:

1.         An official entry form duly completed (kindly download from MyCreative’s website at www.mycreative.com.my)

2.         A softcopy of the complete manuscript in both PDF and Word format.

3.         A recent photograph of the writer in soft copy (1 Mb).

4.         A short biography of the writer of not more than 200 words.

5.         A summary of the manuscript of not more than 200 words.

6.         A copy of writer’s NRIC.

Judging Scheme for MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0

Professional experts from the publishing industry will judge the manuscripts based on the following five criteria:

• Comprehension
• Organisation/structure
• Creativity
• Conclusion/message
• Language

 

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Organiser

The MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 2017 Committee which is appointed by MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) is responsible for the organising of the competition.

 

Eligibility

1.         The Author

The prize is awarded to an original unpublished manuscript, written by writers of Malaysian Nationality who are 18 years of age and above.

 

2.         The Manuscript

• The work must be original, genuine and authentic or the translation of an original unpublished work. The entry and any information submitted must not infringe the intellectual property, privacy or any other rights of any third party, and will not contain anything which is libellous, defamatory, obscene, indecent, harassing or threatening. In addition, the entrants warrant that the entrants have permission to use or feature any people, content, picture/graphics or other material contained within their entry. The organiser reserves the right to screen, check, filter and/or monitor entries for this purpose.
• The manuscript must be unpublished, un-contracted and un-commissioned by any publisher at the time of submission and until the winners are announced. In the event the manuscript is selected as one of the winning manuscript the organiser reserve the rights invoke Clause 13 mentioned herein.
• All submissions must be either in Malay or English language only.
• The manuscript can be of ANY genre including fiction, non-fiction, romance, motivational, poetry, horror, leisure, autobiography and memoir, fantasy, chick lit, poem, crime, science fiction, thriller, children, teen, compilation of short stories, adventures, etc.
• Entries must not be accompanied with illustrations save and except for the children genre.
• Entrants should note that the organiser does not accept responsibility for the safekeeping or return of any entries. Entrants should, therefore, ensure to retain a copy of their entry for their own records.

 

3.         The Format

• At the top right-hand corner of the cover page, please specify the word count.
• The title of the entry should be in the middle of the cover page whilst the genre should be stated beneath the title. The beginning of the manuscript should start on a new page.
• The entire entry must be double-spaced, in 12 point Arial font.
• Margins should be one-inch all around.
• Recommended minimum number of words – 30,000 words per manuscript save and except for children genre.

 

4.    The Prize

• Prizes are non-transferable. The organiser reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal value at any time at its sole discretion.
• Prizes are awarded at the organiser’s discretion and no prizes will be awarded as a result of improper actions by or on behalf of any entrant. The organiser (acting reasonably) reserve the right not to select a winner if entries are not of the requisite standard.
• The organiser reserves the right not to present any awards, not to select a winner, reduce the amount of prize money,the number of awards if insufficient number of deserving entries is received and/or the entries are not of the requisite standard.
• The organiser reserves the right to request written proof of age and/or identity of any entrant including the winner. Where no such written proof is produced, or the entrant is not of the requisite age, the organiser may at its discretion disqualify the entrant.
• All taxes, insurances, transfers, spending money and other expenses (including meals or personal expenses) incurred as the case may be, are the sole responsibility of the prize winner.
• In the case of translations, the prize money will be shared equally between the author and the translator.
• In all matters, the decision of the judge(s) shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
• In the event that any competition winner is subsequently disqualified from a competition for any reason, the organiser in its sole discretion may decide whether a replacement winner should be selected in accordance with the competition criteria.
• The organiser reserves the first right of refusal for publication of winning manuscripts.

 

5.         Number of Entries

• Entrants are welcomed to submit more than one entry.

 

6.         Selection

• The committee will check details concerning the eligibility of the authors and the manuscripts submitted.
• Only manuscripts of authors who meet the criteria will be accepted and sent to the judges.
• The organiser (acting reasonably) reserves the right to remove or amend selection criteria and/or the structure and operation of the competition if entries are not of the requisite standard.
• An independent panel of judges will be selected by the organiser. The panel of judges will select the winners from the manuscripts submitted.
• The judges’ decision is final and no appeals or correspondence will be entertained.

 

7.         The Award Presentation

The winners of the MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 will be announced in July 2017 in Kuala Lumpur or Selangor at a venue that will be announced closer to the date.

The details of a prize-giving ceremony for the award will be announced after the winners have been selected.

 

8.         Media Promotion

The contest and prize details will be separately and officially announced in newspapers and other media. The details of the award will also be disseminated to interested people and organisations at home and abroad.

 

9.         Conditions of Entry

Each entry must include the following:

• An official entry form, duly filled in.
• A softcopy of the complete manuscript in both PDF and Word format.
• A recent photograph in soft copy (1Mb).
• A short biography of the writer not more than 200 words, in both PDF and Word format.
• A summary of the manuscript not more than 200 words, in both PDF and Word format. (In case of a translation, the biography of both the author and the translator must be submitted).
• Entries can be submitted either by the author or translator. In case of a translation, the translator must indicate that the author (or his or her estate) is aware of the fact that a translation of the original unpublished work is being submitted for the competition.
• The manuscript must be typed double-spaced, in 12 point, Arial font.

 

10.       Submission & Acknowledgement

• All entries must be made on/before the closing date on 31st May 2017.
• All entries inclusive of the scanned completed entry form and the soft copy of the manuscript must be sent via email to writersunleashed2.0@mycreative.com.my
• The subject of the email should be MYCREATIVE WRITERS UNLEASHED 2.0 followed by the TITLE of your entry and the GENRE.
• Each entry will be acknowledged by an auto-receipt after it reaches the mailbox.
• If the entrant do not receive a feedback from the MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 2017 Committee within three (3) days of submission, kindly contact enquiry@mycreative.com.my
• Proof of emailing cannot be accepted as proof of delivery. The organiser will not accept responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft, destruction, alteration of or unauthorised access to entries, or entries lost, damaged or delayed as a result of server functions, technical issues, virus, bugs or other causes outside the organiser control.
• Entries that fail to comply with any of the above rules and conditions of entry will be disqualified.

 

11.       Publicity

• The organiser reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to use the name, information and photographs of the entrants without obtaining any consent from the entrants or providing any payment whatsover to the entrants for any commercial or non-commercial endeavors, publicity advertising, trade or promotion purposes in any format or media now known, or hereafter, devised throughout the world in perpetuity.

 

12.       Liability

       The organiser will not be responsible or liable for:

• Any problem, loss, injury, dissapointment or damage of whatsoever nature suffered by any party due to any delay and/or failure in receiving and submiting the competition; and
• Any problem, damage or loss of whatsover nature to any entrants, or their authorised representatives resulting from their participation in the competition
• Any technical issues in relation to any telecommunications or internet network (including in relation to speed or bandwidth), including any injury or damage to entrant's or any other person's device related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in the competition.

 

13.       Disclaimer

The organiser reserves the right to publish and/or to make available to the public the winning submissions up to 6 months after the winners are announced. The organiser reserves the right to modify the format and content of the submissions for publication purposes. All decisions made by the organiser with regards to this competition is final.

 

14.       Personal Data Protection

The personal data collected will be processed by the organiser to administer entrants participation in this competition. By virtue of the entrant entering this competition, the entrant is giving consent to the organiser to use the information for its purposes.  The organiser will take all the physical, technical and organisational measures needed to ensure security and confidentiality of the entrant’s personal data provided.

 

15.       Governing Law

            The competitions and the rules are and will be governed by Malaysian law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.

 

16.       General

• By entering this competition, entrants agree to be bound by the rules of the competition.
• By entering this competition, entrants hereby warrant that all information submitted are true, current and complete. The organiser reserves the right to verify the eligibility of all entrants and disqualify an entrant for submitting false information.
• The organiser reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition or the rules at its sole discretion and without notice. Any changes will be an amendment to the terms and conditions of the competition.
• The organiser reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the entrant is not eligible or has otherwise breached any of the competition rules.
• In the event of any dispute regarding the rules, conduct, results and all other matters relating to the competition, the decision of the organiser shall be final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.

Pertandingan MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0: Pencarian Manuskrip Terbaik

Pertandingan MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 diadakan untuk menggalakkan dan meraikan kreativiti penulis-penulis Malaysia.

 

Objektif utama pertandingan adalah untuk:

 

•          Memartabatkan industri penulisan tempatan dan sekaligus menggalakkan lebih banyak penulis melahirkan karya-karya kreatif.

•          Memberi pengiktirafan dan penghargaan kepada karya penulisan terbaik Malaysia.

 

Tarikh tutup Pertandingan MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 Competition adalah pada 31 Mei 2017.  Pihak Penganjur tidak akan bertanggungjawab, secara langsung atau tidak langsung, terhadap sebarang kehilangan atau kerosakan manuskrip semasa proses penghantaran.

 

Cara-cara untuk menyertai pertandingan

Penyertaan hendaklah disertakan bersama-sama:

 

1.         Borang penyertaan pertandingan yang telah lengkap diisi (Borang boleh dimuat turun melalui laman sesawang web MyCreative di www.mycreative.com.my).

2.         “Softcopy” manuskrip dalam format “PDF” dan “Microsoft Word”..

3.         Gambar terkini penulis (dalam bentuk “softcopy” dengan saiz tidak melebihi 1 Mb).

4.         Biografi pendek penulis tidak melebihi 200 patah perkataan.

5.         Rumusan manuskrip tidak melebihi 200 patah perkataan.

6.         Salinan MyKad penulis.

TERMA DAN SYARAT PERTANDINGAN

 

Penganjur

 

Jawatankuasa MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 2017 yang telah dilantik oleh pihak MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) bertanggungjawab dalam perjalanan dan penganjuran pertandingan ini.

 

Kelayakan

 

1.         Penulis

Untuk menyertai pertandingan ini peserta hendaklah seorang warganegara Malaysia berusia 18 tahun ke atas. Manuskrip yang dihantar mestilah asli (original) dan belum pernah diterbitkan dalam sebarang bentuk penerbitan.

 

2.         Manuskrip

• Hasil manuskrip mestilah asli, tulen dan bukan hasil ciplak dan sekiranya manuskrip adalah hasil kerja terjemahan, hasil kerja terjemahan tersebut mestilah tidak pernah diterbitkan. Sebarang penyertaan dan maklumat yang dihantar hendaklah tidak melanggar sebarang hak harta intelek orang lain dan tidak mengandungi unsur fitnah, lucah dan berbau hasutan dan ugutan . Sekiranya penulisan adalah mengenai pihak ketiga atau sesuatu tajuk yang berhubung kait dengan pihak ketiga, pihak Penganjur beranggapan bahawa penulis telah memperoleh kebenaran daripada pihak tersebut. Untuk tujuan ini Penganjur berhak untuk membuat pengesahan dan menyiasat setiap penyertaan.
• Manuskrip yang dihantar hendaklah hasil kerja yang belum pernah diterbitkan, dikontrakkan dan dikomisenkan oleh mana-mana penerbit dan larangan ini berkuatkuasa dari tarikh manuskrip diterima oleh Penganjur sehingga tarikh pengumuman pemenang. Walaubagaimanapun sekiranya manuskrip berkaitan terpilih sebagai pemenang, Penganjur mempunyai hak terhadap manuskrip tersebut seperti yang terkandung di klausa 13 Penafian.
• Pertandingan terbuka untuk penulisan Bahasa Melayu dan Bahasa Inggeris sahaja.
• Pertandingan terbuka untuk semua genre termasuk, fiksi, bukan fiksi, cinta, motivasi, puisi, seram, hiburan, autobiografi dan memoir, jenayah, sains fiksi, aksi, kanak-kanak, remaja, himpunan cerita-cerita pendek, pengembaraan dan lain-lain.
• Sebarang penyertaan hendaklah tidak mengandungi sebarang gambar ataupun ilustrasi kecuali untuk genre kanak-kanak.
• Pihak Penganjur tidak akan bertanggungjawab untuk menyimpan atau memulangkan semua manuskrip yang dihantar untuk penyertaan. Oleh itu peserta hendaklah membuat salinan manuskrip untuk rekod sendiri.

3.         Format Manuskrip

• Jumlah kesuluruhan patah perkataan hendaklah tertera di bahagian atas kanan muka hadapan manuskrip.
• Tajuk manuskrip hendaklah berada di tengah-tengah muka hadapan. Genre manuskrip hendaklah dinyatakan di bawah tajuk manuskrip. Permulaan manuskrip hendaklah di halaman baru.
• Manuskrip hendaklah ditaip dengan “double–spacing” menggunakan fon Arial, 12.
• Jarak jidar bagi setiap sisi muka surat perlu dijarakkan sebanyak satu inci.
• Cadangan jumlah minimum patah perkataan adalah 30,000 kecuali untuk genre kanak-kanak.

 

4.         Hadiah

• Hadiah tidak boleh dipindah milik. Pihak Penganjur mempunyai hak mutlak/budi bicara untuk menggantikan hadiah dengan sebarang bentuk hadiah lain yang mempunyai nilai sama.
• Pihak Penganjur mempunyai budi bicara untuk memberi hadiah atau sebaliknya dan sekiranya berlaku sebarang salah laku oleh peserta pertandingan, pihak Penganjur berhak untuk tidak memberi sebarang hadiah. Pihak Penganjur juga berhak untuk tidak memilih pemenang sekiranya penyertaan tidak menepati kualiti atau piawaian.
• Pihak Penganjur mempunyai hak mutlak/budi bicara untuk tidak memberi hadiah, memilih pemenang dan/atau meminda nilai wang tunai atau jumlah pemenang sekiranya jumlah penyertaan yang diterima kurang menggalakkan atau tidak mencapai kualiti minimum penerbitan.
• Pihak Penganjur mempunyai hak mutlak untuk meminta bukti bertulis bagi pengesahan umur atau identiti peserta termasuk pemenang.  Sekiranya tiada bukti bertulis diberikan, Penganjur berhak untuk membatalkan penyertaan tersebut.
• Semua perbelanjaan untuk cukai, insurans dan wang perbelanjaan termasuk makanan dan perbelanjaan persendirian adalah menjadi tanggungan pemenang sendiri sepenuhnya.
• Bagi penyertaan hasil kerja terjemahan, hadiah wang tunai hendaklah dikongsi bersama oleh penterjemah dan penulis asal.
• Dalam semua perkara, keputusan panel hakim adalah muktamad dan sebarang bantahan atau surat-menyurat tidak akan dilayan.
• Sekiranya kelayakan pemenang pertandingan dibatalkan atas sebab-sebab tertentu, Penganjur mempunyai budi bicara untuk menggantikan pemenang berikutnya yang menepati terma dan syarat pertandingan.
• Penganjur mempunyai hak pertimbangan pertama untuk menerbitkan buku untuk pemenang-pemenang pertandingan.

 

5.         Jumlah Penyertaan

• Peserta boleh menghantar lebih dari satu manuskrip untuk pertandingan ini.

 

6.         Pemilihan Pemenang

• Pihak Penganjur akan membuat pengesahan kelayakan peserta dan manuskrip yang dihantar.
• Hanya manuskrip penulis yang memenuhi kriteria akan dipilih dan diedarkan kepada panel hakim untuk proses penilaian dan pengadilan.
• Pihak Penganjur mempunyai hak untuk mengeluarkan dan meminda syarat-syarat dan kriteria pemilihan dan/atau struktur dan perjalanan pertandingan sekiranya penyertaan yang diterima tidak memenuhi piawaian minimum yang telah ditetapkan.
• Panel hakim bebas akan dilantik oleh jawatankuasa Penganjur. Panel hakim ini akan menilai manuskrip yang dihantar dan kemudian pemenang akan dipilih berdasarkan penilaian yang telah dibuat.

• Keputusan panel hakim adalah muktamad

 

7.         Pengumuman Pemenang

Pemenang “The MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0” akan diumumkan pada bulan  Julai 2017 sama ada di Kuala Lumpur atau Selangor yang akan dimaklumkan kelak.

Maklumat lanjut berkaitan majlis penyampaian hadiah akan dimaklumkan selepas pemenang-pemenang pertandingan dikenalpasti.

 

8.         Promosi Media

Maklumat berkaitan pertandingan dan hadiah pemenang akan diumumkan secara berperingkat dan secara rasmi melalui suratkhabar dan media masa yang lain. Maklumat berkaitan pertandingan juga akan disebarkan kepada pihak yang berkepentingan sama ada di dalam atau luar negara.

 

9.         Syarat Penyertaan

Setiap penyertaan perlulah disertakan bersama-sama:

• Borang rasmi yang telah lengkap diisi.
• Manuskrip lengkap dalam format “PDF” dan “Microsoft Word”.
• Gambar terkini dalam bentuk “softcopy” (saiz tidak melebihi 1Mb).
• Biografi pendek penulis tidak melebihi 200 patah perkataan.
• Rumusan pendek manuskrip tidak melebihi 200 patah perkataan dalam format “PDF” dan “Microsoft Word” (Untuk penyertaan hasil terjemahan, biografi penulis dan penterjemah harus disertakan bersama).
• Penyertaan boleh dihantar sama ada sebagai penulis atau penterjemah. Sekiranya manuskrip dihantar adalah hasil terjemahan, penterjemah mesti memastikan penulis asal telah dimaklumkan bahawa hasil kerja beliau telah diterjemahkan dan dihantar untuk mengambil bahagian dalam pertandingan ini.
• Salinan MyKad penulis.

 

10.       Penghantaran dan Pengesahan

• Semua penyertaan hendaklah mengikut syarat dan format yang ditetapkan dan hendaklah diterima oleh pihak Penganjur sebelum/pada 31 Mei 2017.
• Semua penyertaan hendaklah dibuat dalam bentuk “soft copy” dan diemelkan ke writersunleashed2.0@mycreative.com.my
• Tajuk emel tersebut hendaklah dimulakan dengan “MYCREATIVE WRITERS UNLEASHED 2.0” dan disusuli dengan tajuk manuskrip dan genre.
• Setiap emel penyertaan yang dihantar ke Penganjur akan dibalas dengan emel pengesahan penerimaan penyertaan pertandingan yang dijana secara automatik.
• Sekiranya tiada emel pengesahan diterima dalam masa 3 hari, sila hubungiJawantankuasa MyCreative Writers Unleashed 2.0 2017 melalui emel enquiry@mycreative.com.my
• Sebarang bukti penghantaran emel tidak boleh diterima pakai sebagai bukti penyertaan melainkan peserta telah menerima emel pengesahan penerimaan penyertaan pertandingan daripada Penganjur. Pihak Penganjur tidak akan bertanggungjawab ke atas manuskrip yang dihantar melalui emel yang mengalami masalah seperti penghantaran ralat, keciciran, gangguan, kehilangan, kecacatan, kelewatan dalam penghantaran, kegagalan talian telekomunikasi, kecurian oleh penggodam, kemusnahan, pengubahan tanpa kebenaran, gangguan teknikal, virus, pepijat atau sebarang bentuk ancaman di luar kawalan Pihak Penganjur.
• Penyertaan yang gagal menepati syarat-syarat di atas akan dibatalkan oleh pihak Penganjur.

 

11.       Publisiti

• Penganjur mempunyai hak mutlak dan budibicara untuk menggunakan nama, butiran peribadi dan gambar peserta yang telah dipilih sebagai pemenang tanpa meminta izin atau memberi sebarang bentuk bayaran bagi tujuan komersil atau bukan komersil, publisiti pengiklanan, perdagangan atau promosi dalam sebarang bentuk format atau media yang sedia ada atau yang akan dating, ke seluruh dunia untuk selamanya.

 

12.       Liabiliti

Penganjur tidak akan bertanggungjawab terhadap:

• Sebarang masalah, kerugian, kehilangan, kecederaan, kerosakan dalam apa jua bentuk dan keadaaan yang dialami oleh mana-mana pihak akibat daripada kelewatan menerima atau kegagalan penghantaran penyertaan untuk pertandingan ini.

• Sebarang masalah, kerugian, kehilangan, kecederaan, kerosakan dalam apa jua bentuk dan keadaan yang dialami oleh peserta atau wakil peserta yang telah diberi kuasa disebabkan penyertaan pertandingan ini.

• Sebarang masalah teknikal berkaitan telekomunikasi dan jaringan internet merangkumi kelajuan dan jalur lebar, termasuk sebarang kerosakan atau kerugian yang menimpa sebarang rupa bentuk komputer atau alat komunikasi atau seumpamanya milik peserta atau pihak lain akibat dari penyertaan pertandingan ini.

 

13.       Penafian

Penganjur atau ajennya berhak untuk menerbitkan atau menjadikan bacaan umum manuskrip yang telah dipilih sebagai pemenang dalam tempoh 6 bulan bermula dari tarikh pengumuman pemenang pertandingan. Penganjur berhak untuk meminda format dan kandungan manuskrip pemenang untuk tujuan penerbitan. Segala keputusan berkaitan pertandingan ini adalah muktamad.

 

14.       Perlindungan Data Peribadi

Maklumat peribadi yang telah dikumpul akan diproses untuk tujuan pendaftaran penyertaan untuk pertandingan ini. Dengan menyertai pertandingan ini, peserta telah memberi izin kepada Penganjur untuk menggunapakai/mendedahkan data peribadi untuk tujuan pertandingan ini. Pihak Penganjur akan mengambil langkah-langkah sewajarnya untuk melindungi dan merahsiakan data peribadi yang telah diberikan.

 

15.       Undang –undang digunapakai

            Pertandingan dan syarat-syaratnya tertakluk kepada Undang-undang Malaysia dan sebarang pertikaian akan dibicarakan di Mahkamah Malaysia.

 

16.       Umum

• Dengan menyertai pertandingan ini, peserta bersetuju untuk mematuhi terma dan syarat pertandingan.
• Dengan menyertai pertandingan ini, peserta dengan ini mengaku bahawa semua maklumat yang diberikan adalah benar, terkini dan lengkap. Pihak Penganjur berhak untuk membuat pengesahan kelayakan setiap peserta dan membatalkan penyertaan sekiranya maklumat yang diberikan adalah tidak benar.
• Pihak Penganjur berhak dan mempunyai budibicari untuk membatalkan pertandingan atau membatalkan dan meminda terma dan syarat pertandingantanpa memberi sebarang notis. Sebarang perubahan akan menjadi pindaan kepada terma dan syarat pertandingan dan berkuatkuasa sepenuhnya.
• Berdasarkan justifikasi yang munasabah, pihak Penganjur berhak untuk membatalkan sebarang penyertaan sekiranya pihak Penganjur mempercayai peserta pertandingan tidak layak menyertai atau melanggari terma dan syarat pertandingan.
• Sekiranya timbul pertikaian terhadap syarat-syarat, perjalanan atau keputusan pertandingan dan sebarang isu berkaitan pertandingan, segala keputusan pihak Penganjur adalah muktamad dan sebarang bantahan atau surat-menyurat tidak akan dilayan.
